This has become one of my favorite wines to blend because it can be anything it wants to be year after year. The fruit for the 2014 all hails from Tierra Alta Vineyard in the northwest corner of Ballard Canyon. Its steep limestone laden hillsides provide great complexity and minerality for this unique blend. This wine is very diverse and will pair with an array of foods but especially Spanish tapas. Drink now and over the next 5+ years. High toned aromas of cherry, red currant and dried cranberry along with scents of licorice, red hots, earth, demi glace, cocoa and bakers spice. Complex flavors of raspberry, cherry, plum and blackberry lead the way followed savory core of Herbs de Provence, cinnamon, licorice, earth and carob chip, finish is long and juicy with persisting tannins and an hint of crème de cassis.
