Tierra Alta Vineyard located on the northeastern portion of Ballard Canyon is perfect for growing world class Grenache thanks to its steep limestone laden hillsides. This Reserve Grenache is made from the highest point in the vineyard from the oldest vines on sight at 20 years old. The grapes were destemmed and gently crushed with 30% of the stems included to increase complexity. The grapes were cold soaked for 6 days prior to native fermentation. The wine was aged in 500 Liter French oak puncheon for 2 years prior to bottling.
Lush aromas of ripe raspberry, pomegranate, and mulberry along with scents of licorice, vanilla, sandalwood, and molasses. Bright flavors of raspberry, cherry, mulberry and rhubarb lead to a core bursting with red licorice, mineral, herbs de Provence, chocolate, and bakers spice, finishing with sweet tannins that last. This is drinking great now and will age for 5-10 years.
