Larner Vineyard is prized for its steep sandy hillsides which create water stress on the vines producing small berries with amazing concentration of flavor. Located at the very top of the vineyard clone 362 the lowest yielding of the French clones producing small dark colored berries. The wine was aged in seasoned French oak for 22 months to help soften and round out the tannins.
Deep aromas of ripe raspberry, plum and grenadine, along with exotic aromas of Chinese five spice, sandalwood, red licorice, cherry and red hots. Big fruit flavors of plum, boysenberry and raspberry lead to flavors of dark chocolate, leather, herb de Provence, black pepper and smoked meats, finishing with taught juicy tannins.
