The 2015 vintage was a very low yielding one where I lost out on Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. I found some incredible Merlot to fill the void. I was amazed by the exceptional quality and jumped at the opportunity to work with the OG Merlot. The wine was aged for 27 months in 35% new French oak, 35% New American and 30% neutral French oak on lees.
Deep aromas of dark cherry, currant and blackberry along with intense aromas of licorice, incense, vanilla and clove. Big upfront flavors of blackberry, cranberry, black cherry and plum that give way to an intense core filled with vanilla, olive tapenade, licorice root, smoked meats and dark cocoa, finishing with high toned chocolate covered tannins.
This wine should drink incredible for the next 8-12 years.
