2018 Buona Terra
The 2018 vintage was well suited to creating amazing Bordeaux varietals. The Kaena Noir wines are made in style of the best wines I tasted in Napa Valley from Rutherford and Oakville districts when I first moved to Californian in 1996. The 2018 vintage was well suited to creating amazing Bordeaux varietals. Stag Canyon Vineyard located on the eastern edge of the Santa Ynez Valley is perfect for growing world class Bordeaux varietals with its rocky soils and tight spacing. Grapes were destemmed and cold soaked for 4 days prior to native fermentation. The wine was aged in 40% new French and American oak for 36 months prior to bottling.
Tasting Notes:
Deep aromas of plum, black cherry, currant, and cassis along with scents of sweet oak, pipe tobacco, vanilla, and sandalwood. Complex flavors of blackberry, plum and boysenberry, give way to a rich core of dark chocolate, graphite, violet, vanilla, and leather. The wine finishes with big, tight long-lasting tannins. This is a wine to age and savor with your favorite cut of steak. Drink now or age for 15 years.
