2011 Larner Vineyard Grenache
While 2011 proved difficult because of the cooler temperature’s, Larner Vineyard put out one of its biggest Grenache’s to date. Low yields and intense concentration and tannin allowed for use of newer oak on this years Grenache. The wine was aged for 22 months in one, two and three year old French oak to round out tannin and highlight aromatics.
Tasting notes:
Perfumed aromas of sandalwood, lavender, earth and clove along with ripe cherry, raspberry and plum. The ripe flavors are then echoed in the mouth with cherry, raspberry and pomegranate that lead to rich core filled with bakers spice, leather, dark chocolate and herbs de Provence finishing with rich, dense tannins that last. This could be my best to date. 100 cases produced.
